This is one of my first photo's of camp after 3 hard days of work. When we drove up there, there was nothing but desert. I have to tell you, we took the next day off to rest.
Next photo is of the road from Hiway 90 to the ranch, very treacherous when it's in bad condition after a big rain.
This is 2 of my best friends Jimmy and Tom, who helped me carve out my space in a very inhospitable piece of the desert.
When I took them out the first time, BEFORE, we came out to work, I told them, " Your either going to love the desert, or your going to hate the desert". They both loved it, and go back with me, every time they can.
Next photo, the help, about to load the feeder on the nw high mesa.
The reward for their hard work, a Cuban cigar, and all the Bud they could drink, in addition to me cooking for them for 4 days, but I do have to say, they always helped me clean up.
There is NOTHING like good friends you can trust with your life, or wife, and these are two of them. They might not be as good as they once were, but they are as good once as they ever were, and that goes back with me about 50 years or so.
That's all for tonight, will check in later, thanks for watching.

You are so right there is nothing better than good friends.
ReplyDeleteHow many acres is your ranch? I guess desert is desert so you probably have the same problems geting in and out of your ranch as the people in Terlingua.
