About 5 years ago, Patti had a Koi pond put in our front courtyard, it was quite a bit of work to start out with, but as time went on, she got the knack of their needs, and has been quite successful in raising them, 3 in particular, that are just like a pet to her.
This morning, I got a call from her, and she was very upset that some dang varmit had raided the pond, ate one of them, and killed the other two.
Well, you know what that means, some dang varmit is going to the happy hunting grounds as soon as I can kill or catch him. I'll put out a live trap tonight, and see what wanders in to it. My guess is, it has opposing thumbs, coon, or possum, and since it got fed there once, it'll be back for more.
Cool, cloudy weather here for a change, man I really enjoy October.
Taking a friend to the ranch with me next week for his first visit, to reload feeders and cameras, looking forward to getting away for a while.
Thanks for checking in, and I'll let you know what I catch at the pond, if anything.

It's so awful to see your effort & affection wasted by varmints looking for an easy meal. Hope you are successful, in all your endeavors!
ReplyDeleteConsidering you lost all three at the same time, my guess is a coon. I have lost a couple of gold fish at different times and the only thing I think it could have been was a bull frog. Bull frog relocated and no more fish loss.
ReplyDeleteI have had a pond since 2004 with some of the original fish.
Good luck with your varmint hunting.

I can understand how upset Patti must have felt. Hope you catch that varmit!
