Local reports have totaled about 3 inches in the last week around my place at Sanderson. I am being optimistic, and hope that this is going to break the drought of record for us there. Last years TOTAL rainfall was 2.28. The wildlife has been struggling for 2 years out there, and this is bound to help, however, I have never seen the desert die, but several plant species are stone dead, sotol, etc.
The deer population, has been dramatically diminished, as the other wildlife as well.
Thanks for checking in.

Lets hope the rain we have had recently breaks this terrible drought.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this rain will bring back a lot of the desert plants.
MsB: I really think it will be years and years before we see the desert come back to the 'norm' we saw 2 years ago. I hope I'm wrong, but I have never seen a mass die off like this one. I know the deer population is down about 45 to 60% according to TP&W Biologist estimates.
