Thank goodness it's a pipe inside a pipe. The interior pipe was perforated right at the top where it looked like a blow torch was coming out of the stack.
We are now in good shape as far as repairs go, just need to paint inside then we'll be good to go.

DeleteI have been using stainless steel and inserted it inside my home made insulated steel smoke stack rather than a chimney. It is not attached to the house. Nothing like a good clean pipe.
